WELCOMEWelcome to the recently redesigned website for the Industrial Relations Society of Queensland: Your Professional Association. The Society is made up of industrial relations professionals — academics, union officials, students, lawyers, advocates and consultants, and exists to provide members with opportunities to network, learn and develop their skills as industrial relations practitioners. The Society’s Management Committee meets monthly to discuss activities of the Society – both planned and to be planned, as well as general industrial relations and membership matters. The Committee is made up for representatives from private practice, government, unions, employer organisations, the tertiary sector and the legal fraternity. To find out more about the Management Committee, click on the relevant tab in the Menu bar. Members with feedback on the Society are encouraged to forward their comments, suggestions and feedback to the IRSQ Secretariat at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGEDale Himstedt I am honoured to have recently been elected to the role of President of the Society and look forward to continuing the leadership provided by my predecessor Pat Knight. I have been involved with the Society for many years and have, prior to my current role, served as the Society's Secretary. The Society's relevance as a professional association for industrial relations and human resource practitioners, academics and lawyers continues to grow, and I am excited to be part of such an important association. The Society is only as good as its members, so your contribution through participation at events, providing feedback to the Committee and encouraging new membership is valuable to ensuring the on-going relevance and viability of the Society. The recent annual conference had a low registration and the Society will be contacting members shortly to ask why people didn’t attend. The Committee will use this feedback to make decisions around future conferences, so I encourage you to respond.
I look forward to working with the Society’s Patron, Peter Henneken and the Management Committee to build on the efforts of previous years.
I'd like to thank Pat for his two years as President - you have left big shoes to fit.
Finally, I'd like to thank Society members for their continuing support and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
Dale
