WELCOME

The Industrial Relations Society of Queensland (IRSQ) is Your Professional Association.

 The IRSQ has over 450 industrial relations professionals as members including academics, state and federal government HR and IR practitioners, union officials, students, lawyers, advocates and consultants, and tribunal members. The IRSQ exists to provide members with opportunities to network, learn and develop their skills as industrial relations practitioners.

Some of the benefits of IRSQ membership are:

  • The Society keeps its membership informed of current developments in industrial relations, both national and international, through quarterly publication of the Journal of Industrial Relations, as well as through its regular newsletter, The IR Advocate. 
  • The Society hosts activities for members and invited guests. These include information seminars and conferences featuring guest speakers on topics of interest to the industrial relations fraternity. 
  • The Society provides an ideal forum to meet with others who are active participants in the field, or who have a major interest in the area, in the spirit of exchanging ideas and exploring experiences.  

The Society’s Management Committee meets monthly to discuss activities of the Society, as well as general industrial relations and membership matters. The Committee is made up for representatives from private practice, government, unions, employer organisations, the tertiary sector and the legal fraternity. The Society is a member of the Australian Labour and Employment Relations Association (formerly the IRS of Australia) which has organisations in all states and territories of Australia - refer below for links to those pages. The Australian Labour and Employment Relations Association has links with similar international organisations.

IRSQ Management Committee members regularly attend and participate in national Executive meetings which ensures an ongoing and smooth exchange of information between the society organizations.
